Help Little Deeb Start Again – A Child of War in Gaza
My name is Lubna, and I am the maternal grandmother of a beautiful five-year-old boy named Deeb Saad Mohammad Al-Ra’i, born on 4 May 2020 in Gaza.
Just weeks after his birthday, on 13 May 2024, Deeb’s father was killed in an airstrike. Shortly after, his mother remarried and left him in my care. Her new husband refused to raise Deeb, and none of his paternal relatives have offered any support—not even a phone call. He has been completely abandoned.
So now, I am his only family.
Deeb is innocent. He has done nothing to deserve this pain, this loss, this rejection. He wakes up each day in a place that is not safe, with no father to hold him, no mother to comfort him, and no home to call his own. But he still smiles. He still laughs. He still plays with stones and sticks and tries to make sense of a world that has failed him.
We are displaced. We live in terrible conditions. I have no income and no way to provide him with his basic needs: food, clothing, toys, and safety. I am doing my best, but I cannot do it alone.
I am asking for your help to raise $700 AUD to care for Deeb. This will go towards food, clothing, and essential items for his wellbeing. If more is raised, I will use it for his long-term needs—schooling, shelter, and psychological care.
He is just a child. He should be safe in his mother’s arms, not hiding in fear under sheets of plastic.
Please donate what you can, and share this campaign with others. Help me give this boy a chance at life, after everything he has lost.
From my heart to yours—thank you.
